Identity note
Current external labels show materially different nitrofurantoin capsule formulations. Those examples demonstrate why LP-039 cannot be characterised beyond its controlled catalogue fields.
02 · Variants
Preserve each catalogue row without inferring missing SKU relationships.
| Variant | Proposed strength / concentration | Dosage form | Presentation detail | Pack relationship | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 50 mg | Capsule | — | Catalogue lists blister 10 x 10 capsules; strength-specific controlled SKU evidence not supplied | Do not infer nitrofurantoin formulation, release/absorption behaviour or interchangeability from ingredient + capsule + strength. |
| B | 100 mg | Capsule | — | Catalogue lists blister 10 x 10 capsules; strength-specific controlled SKU evidence not supplied | Do not infer nitrofurantoin formulation, release/absorption behaviour or interchangeability from ingredient + capsule + strength. |
The table reproduces or structures catalogue-level fields. It does not create an approved SKU, instruction or specification where the source record does not provide one.
03 · External reference context
Ingredient and dosage-form background
Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic used in selected lower urinary tract infections. Its clinical role is linked to concentrations achieved in urine; it should not be promoted as treatment for every urinary symptom or for infection throughout the body. Different capsule formulations can have different instructions. This educational page does not establish approved Luang Pharma indications, release characteristics or interchangeability with another nitrofurantoin product.
Clinical context and therapeutic role
Symptoms should be assessed for uncomplicated bladder infection versus kidney infection, obstruction or another diagnosis. Fever, flank pain or systemic illness can indicate that a lower-urinary-tract approach is insufficient. Renal function is central to medicine selection. A clinician also considers pregnancy timing, previous reactions and local resistance guidance. Recurrent infections or prolonged preventive use require an explicit review and monitoring plan rather than automatic repeat supply.
Selected safety context
Pulmonary reactions, liver injury and peripheral neuropathy are important risks. New cough, breathlessness, chest discomfort, jaundice, numbness or weakness needs prompt assessment. Kidney impairment can affect both effectiveness and toxicity, and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is relevant to hemolysis risk. Gastrointestinal upset can occur. A change in urine color may be benign, but symptoms of systemic illness must not be dismissed. Pregnancy-related restrictions require the exact local label and professional advice.
Selected external context only. It is not a complete risk profile or Luang Pharma approved labelling. The exact authorised IFU/label and applicable professional guidance control product use.
Formulation, presentation and handling evidence
The catalogue describes an oral capsule. Capsule shell, fill composition and release behavior are product-specific and are not established by the ingredient name. Opening a capsule or dispersing its contents should be considered only when the approved instructions or a pharmacist confirms that this is appropriate.
Retain the original labeled pack and check its integrity and expiry before use. Storage requirements must come from the supplied product information; no shelf life or temperature is inferred here. A pharmacist can advise on an alternative presentation if swallowing is difficult.
Final instructions, storage conditions, shelf life and any after-opening/in-use limits require the exact controlled product documentation; none is created from a comparator reference.
Points for professional review
A qualified prescriber should establish the infection and need for treatment, consult current local guidance and resistance information where relevant, and select a suitable route. Generic reference literature is not a substitute for the authorized local product information.
04 · Layer 04 · Documentation gate
Controlled product documents must close the held fields.
Before this medicine record can support product-specific clinical, technical or supply claims, the exact finished-product documentation must resolve the held fields.
Finished-product specification and quantitative composition for each exact presentation.
Approved/controlled label or leaflet for the intended jurisdiction.
Strength/form-to-pack SKU matrix and controlled packaging artwork where more than one variant is listed.
Registration/market-status and manufacturing-site evidence for the exact presentation.
