Layer 01 · Controlled catalogue facts

  • Generic identity: Nifedipine.
  • Dosage form: tablet.
  • Catalogue strength / concentration: 10 mg immediate-release; 20 mg modified-release; 30 mg extended-release.
  • Catalogue pack: Blister 10 x 10 tablets.
  • Catalogue category: Cardiovascular Medicines.

Layer 02 · Unresolved product-specific fields

  • Exact finished-product composition, excipients and manufacturing specification.
  • Exact pharmaceutical technology and controlled release/dissolution specification for each IR/MR/ER variant, plus controlled SKU mapping for the common blister description.
  • Approved indication, patient eligibility, dose/administration and contraindication wording for the exact product/jurisdiction.
  • Storage conditions, shelf life, registration/market status, manufacturing route and current supply status.

Identity note

The external extended-release label confirms that release technology is a product-defining characteristic. It does not establish LP-055 equivalence or permit conversion among its three catalogue variants.

03 · External reference context

Ingredient and dosage-form background

Nifedipine is a calcium-channel blocker used in selected vascular and cardiovascular conditions. Immediate-release, modified-release and extended-release products can behave very differently and must be distinguished explicitly. A shared ingredient name or similar milligram value does not establish interchangeability. This educational page does not establish Luang Pharma approved indications, validate a release system or recommend immediate-release treatment for an episode of high blood pressure.

Clinical context and therapeutic role

The clinician selects the precise formulation according to the diagnosis and the authorized product information. Ongoing management of hypertension or angina is different from assessment of an acute emergency. Release characteristics, other cardiovascular medicines and liver disease can influence selection. A substitution must preserve the intended formulation and instructions, not simply the ingredient. Severe headache with neurologic symptoms, acute chest pain or major breathlessness requires urgent clinical assessment.

Selected safety context

Headache, flushing, ankle swelling, dizziness and palpitations can occur. Excessive hypotension or worsening chest pain needs prompt review. Crushing or otherwise altering some modified-release products can change drug delivery and create risk. Interacting medicines and grapefruit may affect exposure, so the exact leaflet should be checked. A tablet should not be used for rapid unsupervised blood-pressure lowering. Fainting, severe chest pain or signs of a serious allergic reaction requires urgent care.

Selected external context only. It is not a complete risk profile or Luang Pharma approved labelling. The exact authorised IFU/label and applicable professional guidance control product use.

Formulation, presentation and handling evidence

The catalogue describes a tablet presentation. The exact salt, coating, score line and release characteristics need confirmation from the authorized product information. A milligram strength identifies ingredient quantity; it does not establish whether a tablet may be split, crushed or exchanged for another formulation.

Keep the product in its labeled packaging so the batch, expiry and instructions remain identifiable. Follow the actual label for storage conditions and disposal. Do not use a damaged or unidentified tablet, and keep all medicines securely out of children’s reach.

Final instructions, storage conditions, shelf life and any after-opening/in-use limits require the exact controlled product documentation; none is created from a comparator reference.

Points for professional review

A qualified clinician should review the cardiovascular indication, blood pressure or pulse where relevant, organ function and interacting medicines. Monitoring and treatment changes must be linked to the individual care plan and the authorized product information.

04 · Layer 04 · Documentation gate

Controlled product documents must close the held fields.

Before this medicine record can support product-specific clinical, technical or supply claims, the exact finished-product documentation must resolve the held fields.
