About Dextrose
Dextrose is glucose supplied in sterile solutions for defined intravenous uses. Its concentration changes the osmotic and clinical properties of the preparation. The source record combines dilute infusion presentations with a concentrated ampoule, which require different assessments and handling. Glucose-containing fluids are not interchangeable with saline or balanced electrolyte solutions simply because each can be administered through an intravenous line.
How to read this profile
Scientific information relates to the ingredient and dosage-form context. It is not approved Luang Pharma labelling, a clinical recommendation, or evidence of equivalence to a referenced product. Multiple strengths or presentations represent separate proposed variants and must not be treated as interchangeable.
02 · Professional background
Scientific & clinical reference
Read the clinical context, selected safety considerations and presentation-specific information below.
Clinical context and therapeutic role
Clinical selection depends on the reason for fluid or glucose administration, glucose concentration, fluid balance and the patient’s electrolyte status. Concentrated preparations may be considered in specific urgent settings, whereas lower concentrations have different fluid-management roles. A fluid catalogue cannot define a resuscitation, nutrition or hypoglycaemia protocol. The required vascular access and administration conditions must be established for the actual product and clinical setting.
Important safety considerations
Hyperglycaemia, electrolyte disturbances, fluid overload and vein irritation can occur. Concentrated solutions can cause significant tissue injury if they leave the vascular space. Patients with diabetes, kidney or cardiac disease and those with disturbed sodium balance require particular monitoring. Concentration or volume errors can have serious consequences. Glucose and fluid administration should be reviewed with appropriate laboratory and clinical assessment rather than inferred from pack size.
These are selected considerations, not a complete list. Use the current instructions or approved label for the exact authorised product and seek appropriate professional advice.
Presentation, handling and storage
The 5%, 10% and 50% presentations are separate specifications. Container type, concentration, osmolarity, route and compatibility with other medicines must be confirmed individually. The catalogue does not establish that a concentrated ampoule can be used without preparation.
Professional preparation must follow the authorized label and local aseptic procedures. Confirm the correct container, concentration, route and expiry before use. Storage, transport, dilution compatibility and any period after opening or reconstitution require product-specific evidence; this page does not establish them.
Final composition, instructions, shelf life and storage conditions are not established by this portfolio entry. They must come from the controlled documentation for the specific product.
Points for professional review
Confirm the fluid or glucose indication, clinical and laboratory status, vascular-access requirements and product concentration. Follow the exact authorized label and institutional protocol.

What is established — and what remains open
This record has received an editorial evidence-layer review. The review separates catalogue facts from unresolved product-specific fields and external context; it is not medical, regulatory or market-authorisation approval.

Layer 02
Unresolved product-specific fields
- P019 — The strength field contains paired concentration, fill-volume and presentation information: 5% 500 mL IV infusion; 10% 500 mL IV infusion; 50% 50 mL ampoule. These pairings must be preserved and not cross-multiplied into hypothetical SKUs.
- The catalogue explicitly says IV infusion for the 5% and 10% 500 mL entries; it does not by itself establish the route, dilution or administration method for the 50% ampoule.
- Approved indication, patient eligibility and dosing are not established by this portfolio record.
- Registration, manufacturing/site status, supply availability, storage conditions and shelf life remain product- and market-specific evidence items.

Documents required to close the record
- Variant matrix preserving the exact 5%/500 mL, 10%/500 mL and 50%/50 mL source pairings, with container type, route, osmolarity/compatibility and preparation controls confirmed per presentation.
- Destination-market authorisation or other lawful supply-route evidence plus the approved label/leaflet/IFU, where applicable.
- Product-specific composition/excipient, storage, shelf-life and pack-control documentation.
- Manufacturing-site and supply-status evidence before any public claim of installed capability, registration, availability or equivalence.
For LP-183, identify the destination country, intended professional use, proposed presentation and the role of your organisation. The appropriate supply route and available documentation must be confirmed for that case.
- Confirm the legal entity, manufacturing site and authorised scope for the proposed supply chain.
- Confirm product registration or another lawful route, approved labelling and the applicable destination requirements.
- Request relevant product information, specifications and supporting evidence through the company contact.
- Confirm storage, transport, traceability, complaints and safety-reporting responsibilities before any agreement.
The public catalogue extends beyond the initial planned facility modules. A listing does not mean that the dosage form is installed, qualified or licensed at Boten.
